Skin Rejuvenation Explained
Skin rejuvenation is a cosmetic technique used in several different types of treatment. It generally involves resurfacing and revitalizing the skin to reveal a healthier, more youthful complexion.
In many cases, a skin rejuvenation treatment removes the damaged outer layer of skin and stimulates the growth of new skin cells, as well as collagen and elastin. This process could be considered anti-aging, as it results in the improvement of everything from fine lines and wrinkles to dark spots and skin laxity.
At his state-of-the-art clinic in the San Fernando Valley, Dr. Sanders offers chemical peels and laser skin resurfacing as his preferred skin rejuvenation treatments. These treatments remove the outer layer of damaged, dead skin cells and encourage new cell generation for beautiful, younger-looking skin.
The Key Benefits of Skin Rejuvenation
Skin rejuvenation can do wonders for the skin and improve a few common cosmetic concerns. As mentioned above, skin rejuvenation effectively removes the outer layer of damaged skin and stimulates the production of new skin cells, collagen, and elastin, all of which can benefit your complexion by:
- Smoothing out fine lines and wrinkles for a beautiful anti-aging effect.
- Fading troublesome skin discoloration, such as dark spots, sunspots, and age spots.
- Treating minor facial scarring like acne and chickenpox scars.
- Improving hyperpigmentation, including melasma and freckles.
- Tightening loose, lax skin for a more youthful complexion.
- Treating sun damage for an improvement in skin tone and texture.
- Brightening up dull, lackluster skin for a revitalized appearance.
- Unclogging pores for reduced acne breakouts.
How Does Skin Rejuvenation Work?
Skin rejuvenation works a bit differently depending on the type of skin rejuvenation treatment you are getting. Dr. Sanders offers chemical peels and laser skin resurfacing as his main skin rejuvenation treatments.
Chemical peels work by resurfacing and rejuvenating the skin through chemical exfoliation, while laser skin resurfacing uses laser technology to remove the outer layer of skin and heat up the underlying skin layers.
Both treatments remove dead and damaged skin cells, accelerate cell regeneration, and stimulate the production of collagen and elastin fibers to treat and improve a number of different cosmetic skin concerns.
What is the Average Cost of Skin Rejuvenation in the San Fernando Valley?
The cost of skin rejuvenation varies depending on several different factors. The type of treatment you are receiving, the extent of your treatment, how many sessions are needed to achieve your desired results, your provider’s level of experience, and the clinic’s location all influence how much your skin rejuvenation treatment will cost.
For more detailed pricing, it is best to schedule a consultation with Dr. Sanders. During your initial consultation, Dr. Sanders will evaluate your skin, learn more about your cosmetic goals, and provide a personalized treatment plan with estimated costs.

What To Expect Before and After Skin Rejuvenation Treatments?
What you can expect before and after your skin rejuvenation treatment depends on the type of treatment you received.
If you are getting a chemical peel, Dr. Sanders first applies a numbing agent to the skin, which minimizes discomfort during the procedure. Next, he applies the chemical solution, during which you might feel a warm and slight tingling sensation and mild stinging.
Once complete, Dr. Sanders removes the solution and will instruct you to continually apply topicals and ointments to protect your healing skin. The treatment typically takes around one hour to complete.
For laser skin resurfacing, the process is very similar to that of a chemical peel. Anesthesia is administered, ranging from local anesthesia for smaller areas of treatment to deep sedation in the operating room for larger procedures. Dr. Sanders then treats the desired areas with the Erbium Laser. During the procedure, you may feel a warm, tingling sensation and slight discomfort. You can expect your laser treatment to take around 45 minutes to one hour.
Following the laser treatment, you can expect redness, bruising, and mild swelling. Dr. Sanders instructs his laser patients to take care of their recovering skin by staying out of the sun and applying protective topicals.
